New Look, New Year Coming

It seems a little presumptious, if not really early, to talk about the new year already but I am. Sort of. I just wanted to say 2006 is going to be phenomenal! Not just for The City Church but for GC. With so many things already cookin' it's going to be the greatest year yet. New messages, new features to the website, new sanctuary (or rather a decorated one) oooh, I can't wait.

But before we jump on the New Year Bandwagon we must finish the race of 2005. We have 5 weeks left in '05 including our Super Invite Night w. Pastor Judah Smith. My exhortation to you is that you would grab hold of the vision for 250 and compel your friends and neighbors, your classmates, etc. to come and experience Generation Church, or more importantly Jesus. As much as we push and contend and encourage we're not shooting for numbers we are going after a generation who desperately needs Jesus and we are the ones who stand in the gap. Our goal of 250 is so that we aren't just shooting into a blank landscape but we are aiming for a target that we can achieve through God's grace and mercy.

Let's not be a faithless generation that Jesus has to bear with, let's be a generation (church) that says I believe that with God all things are POSSIBLE! 250 is possible, salvation is possible, healing is possible, God visiting us is possible! Only believe.

I am a believer, are you?

The Good Fight of...face.

For whatever reason, during this time of year (call it cold season or the "holidays") people pass on their Holiday Cheer. Everyone gets so excited for the upcoming holidays and bustles around buying presents for people they only see once a year and their neighbors cat. Something else that seems to get passed around more freely and abundantly are germs. Yes, germs. Those unsightly one-celled organisms that seep into our immune systems and bring our highly complex bodies into submission through heinous acts like: coughing, sneezing uncontrollably in areas where there are lots of people and bowel movements that only hit when you're sitting in traffic.

Currently, I am trying to masticate my Subway sandwich as I write. This is usually no problem however, I run into the fact that I cannot breathe through my nose as it is stuffed with, well I am not sure. When I go to clean (read: pick) it there is nothing there. But when I put the sandwich in my mouth and start to chew, my body starts screaming out, "you need to breathe!" And my nose responds with: "I am busy stuffing, call the mouth". Of course the mouth responds by jumping into action and in mid-chew begins the inhaling process which sucks the food deep into the throat (food that hasn't been chewed all the way). The throat, not being able to accept food, convulses and launches the food out of the mouth with enough pressure to send that "sandwich" 3 feet across the room. Meanwhile, choking and coughing overtake the body. And onlookers spread their holdiay cheer by not doing anything, thinking I must be doing some new thanksgiving/ kwanzaa dance.

At this point the nose germs decide they have had enough of being clogged and release themselves and the "snot" comes pouring out. Ah yes, the holiday season. Where we can spread our holiday cheer and the common cold. Yet I am not sick, I am fighting the good fight of... face!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We never saw anything like this (or we have seen strange things today!)

Tonight we are standing on the precipice of something never been done in The City Church and GC. Tonight we are going to UCSD to put on a our first of many GCs on UCSD. It is going to be an amazing time of worship and preaching, as well as a powerful altar time. As I was reading the Bible, Mark 2:12 leapt off the page and the Holy Spirit began to speak to me about this service in particular. That verse says, "Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, 'We never saw ANYTHING like this!'"

Now, to be fair, many campus ministries are doing an excellent job of reaching students and the harvest has been plentiful. But as the Holy Spirit began to speak to me about this, I just got more stirred up and the vision began to increase. It has come to the point that I can barely contain myself, I cannot WAIT to see what God is going to do tonight! It is going to be powerful and supernatural, something we have not seen yet.

And if that's not enough tomorrow night at GC is going to be just as crazy and anointed! The lobby will be in full effect, we have more Metromint Water and some new water as well. Worship is going to be phenomenal and the word is going to be refined and faith-building. I can't wait for tonight or tomorrow.

Now is the perfect time to get involved in any area in GC, if you haven't joined a cell. Just DO IT! It's a great time to bring your friends and it's time to take our generation back!

Can't wait to see you at one of our services this week!

Invite Night

Hey Invite Night is tomorrow! We are going to have so much stuff it's ridiculous. We're going to be giving away a PSP, Gift Certificates to Rubio's, Free Starbucks Coffee, clothing, pizza; we also are going to have a redecorated stage and lobby with an H20 Bar!

180 is possible because with God all things are possible! Bring your pre-saved friends, your neighbor, your classmates, etc. GC is going to be off the hook.

And if that's not enough, we are going to have GC on UCSD for the first time next wednesday! We are going to change this city and see Jesus Christ glorified. We will also be announcing our next invite night with a special guest speaker!

See you there!
