Good to Great

That's actually the title of a book I am reading right now. But it's also something that has been on my heart for the last 6 months or so. It is a question, I believe, the Holy Spirit is posing to all of Generation Church. Do you want to be good? Or do you want to be great? Hence, the theme for camp was Elev8. Hence, we have talked about cleansing ourselves from the overflow of wickedness. Hence, we are talking about true submission (not being a hater). And in the very near future we will talk about the Fear of the Lord.

All of the aforementioned ideas and thoughts and scriptures are juxtaposed on the question of greatness. We are a good youth church right now. But to get to 250 by the end of the year and to do all that God has called ALL of US to do. It is going to take a level of greatness. We are by necessity going to go up higher and be the benchmark for all of SoCal. We will be the standard, not just standard. We are not going to be good, we are destined (and going to be) GREAT!

If you agree with those thoughts and the direction GC is going, then I would encourage you to take your dedication to another level. Come, and be on time, for GC prayer at 6:30 every Thursday night. Join a G.O. Cell group and bring your friends. Come to prayer and church on Saturday night and Sunday morning, respectively. It is in HIS Presence that we will achieve greatness and we will have the fullness of joy, as well as all the strength/ energy needed to accomplish His vision for our region!

It is time for us to GO UP HIGHER!

Beelzebug

I happen to hate, with a passion, the common housefly. He is known as annoyingacus flyacus. I hate how he flies in 90 degree angles all the time and buzzes right up to my face then deftly makes a right turn, dodging my cat-like reflexes. Oh, how he taunts me day in and day out. He alights on my shoulder and then bolts away, knowing that I intend to subdue him. He lands on my food while I am looking away only to barf on it and wait just long enough for me to see that he is on my food and then he's off! Flying in right angles taunting everyone in his path. Ladies and gentlemen, he is the FLY!

I like the name beelzebug. Recently, after camp, my house was filled with beelzebugs. It was disgusting. The only way for a fly to get in my house is when the backdoor is left open and the screen door is open also. (the reason it was "filled" is that we have a nectarine tree in our backyard which produces a bumper crop every year and these flys make their home in the rotten fruit!) Beelzebug, also grows to mammoth proportions so that he is more like a bat than an actual, common housefly. Hence the name beelzebug. Back to my story, so for the next two weeks I have been on fly patrol. And armed with my trusty swatter have been battling the forces of evil that would try to barf on my food! I write you today to say that I have killed the last of them and the enemy has been vanquished. Unless of course the backdoor was left open...

The answers to neat things

Neat. That's a funny word. On one hand it means to keep things tidy and in order. On the other hand it can used as an expression to replace "wow!" or "sweet" or "lucky". (although anyone who uses "neat" in that sense is usually older and wears cartigans and/ or polyester clothing of any type)

So what? So, somebody had asked me why I never leave comments on others blog sites. This is unfounded since I have left numerous comments on emilie schneider's blog. However, the main reason I don't is that I can never find your blog. If your address is: http://www.myspace.com/weirdoblogsite/1234256/~2sfnvg./cali_surfer_prayerhead0235, chances are I won't find your blog to leave a comment on. Not that I don't want to.

That (the afore mentioned URL) would be the opposite of neat. In both senses of the word. It is neither tidy nor "sweet" or "lucky".

Well, don't get mad. Just because you have that address doesn't mean anything bad.

Don't be a hater, be a player.

To infinity and beyond.

Whew! What an awesome week. GC Camp was by and large the best I have been to, it was practical, fun, anointed and flowed perfectly in what God has been speaking to us. [Note: All of the meetings were digitally recorded so you if you want one (or more) you can ask the Guest Services desk to make you a copy of the CD.] Now is the time when the "rubber meets the road", in essence, time to do something with what we have been given. For many of us school is just around the corner, now is the time to prepare and pray about how God wants to use you on your campus! If you want to start a cell, preach or whatever start talking to your cell leader or myself or Pastor Paige about how to do that. It is time that we truly elevated the name of Jesus Christ in San Diego and all of its nooks and crannies. Let us shine brighter than ever before.

Thanks to everyone who came and served (as well as came to have fun) we couldn't and wouldn't want to do it without you! WE are generation church and WE are going to change this city. Have an awesome weekend and don't forget to come to both services on Sunday so we can recognize all those who went to camp.
